OUR VISION

Arise Community Credit Union will address the harmful effects of systemic exclusion, extraction, and disinvestment in North Minneapolis and other neighborhoods in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties, helping free members from high-cost debt, help them gain control over personal finances, and achieve economic well-being. Arise will become a model for transformative economic enterprise, supporting the economic viability of Black communities and the wealth of their residents.

OUR VALUES & GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Arise Community Credit Union embraces cooperative institutional principles and further outlines a set of founding principles that reflect the needs and aspirations of underserved African-American communities. Arise will assume responsibility for being a culturally responsive financial leader by:

  • Encouraging membership, regardless of economic or social circumstance, for all within the field of membership who can reasonably use services and can accept the responsibilities of membership.

  • Being conscious of and accountable to members in all decisions and actions with appropriate organizational mechanisms to insure member engagement and control.

  • Insuring the stability of the credit union and the security of its capital and assets and member benefits.

  • Offering pathways to individual financial independence and family wealth.

  • Maintaining outreach to immediate, extended, and intersecting communities about the value of a credit union financial institution.

  • Supporting the development of a cooperative economic ecosystem to bolster the local economy and deal more effectively with social and community needs.

  • Contributing directly through surpluses, investments, products, and services to local community development in order to enhance and sustain its economic integrity.
